A Place To Rest Your Head
A project exploring breast issues.
Place To Rest Your Head is a planned multi media project planning to raise issues of the female breast and male chest. In an age of the body beautiful a lot of issues are ignored with this area of the body. Women want shapely breasts and men want manly pecs. On the other hand it is also a sensitive taboo subject concerning health. There is Female and male breast cancer which both sexes can be confused or are ill educated to check for, transgender hormone breast development which can be stressful during transformation, steroid abuse by males wanting to look more like a “man”, breast feeding issues in public, breast cancer survivors who have had single or double mastectomy including reconstruction surgery. The list can go on but it is a list that must be addressed. The project is organized by multi-media artist Dominick O'Cruadhliocht, researcher Katarzyna Kaczor O'Cruadhliocht and photographer Monica Manzzi Barlocco. The project consists of three items per breast or chest issue. A photograph of the breast, a testimonial from the subject detailing their issue and an original painted imprint of the subject. The project will explore all aspects showing four sections per problem. Normal breast issues, cancer, transgender, breast feeding, male issues, insecurity, bullying and peer pressure. We also plan to have guest speakers to speak on the above subjects. A video presentation on how to perform correct breast exams, information leaflets and private consultation from volunteer medical professionals. All the arts pieces will be put on sale during the project and all proceeds will be donated to selected charities involved in the project. These range from Cancer charities, Bullying charities, charities, charities that help support depression and sexuality. We are non profit and wish to ask help and support the project to help and support this cause. We are three people who have taken up this cause to spread awareness of this issue. This project is dedicated to Ana Maria Barlocco who presently has breast cancer and to all the people who have been been through hardship with this issue.
